ENTERTAINER GUIDE

Welcome to the Entertainer Profession. You profession is one of the most needed in the game. Your unique role in Star Wars Galaxies makes you one of the most social characters in the game. If you enjoy meeting need people, role-playing, or serving others, this is the profession for you.

Under entertainer, you have 4 skills (which 3 lead specificly to the Elite Professions of Dancer, Musician, and Image Designer) in which you may learn. Image Design experience (or xp for short) is gained when you alter another character's appearance. This activity can only be performed with another player's consent. Dancing and Musician xp is gain by performing that action (Dancing for dancing xp and playing an instrument for Musician xp). Entertainer Healing requires someone to watch/listen to you while you are dancing/playing an instrument while having wounds to the Mind attributes and/or Battle Fatigue.

To heal any mind wounds, you must dance/play instrument in a cantina or a camp. Depending if the entertainer is dancing or playing an instrument, the other player must type /watch or /listen or they may click on your character and either type /watch or /listen or you may use the radial menu. The radial menu will appear if you hold your cursor over a target for a few seconds. A circle will appear will many choices attached to it. If you hold the cursor over the choices, more choices may appear as a sub-menu. The options Watch or Listen will appear for the other player.

Wounds are listed under your character menu (control C). You may go to this screen to see your attributes. If a player has damage to their Mind, Focus, or Willpower, it will show up on their Character Menu. They may also have Battle Fatigue.

Battle Fatigue represents shell shock, mental exhaustion, and stress. Any Battle Fatigue 200 or over will reduce the ability for medics/doctors to heal or buff you. This is why your profession is so important. No one can heal Battle Fatigue without an entertainer. A player will heal Battle Fatigue at the same time they are healing mind wounds. Just keep dancing or playing your instrument.

While you are entertaining, you may perform special actions. These actions are called Flourishes. You gain xp in dancing or musicianship when you perform Flourishes. The more Flourishes you can perform, the more xp you gain. While entertaining, this reduces your Action pool.

(Side note: Many entertainer characters learn the medic profession to heal themselves faster. This allows the player to use his flourishes more often, since he can heal all is action pool. A Medic can heal the health and action pool, but a mind pool can only be healed by a Combat Medic.)

You can change your attributes without an Image Designer once after creation. Go to the Character screen to look at your attributes (control C). It is recommended that you have a strong action and mind attribute with the maximum secondary attributes. Heath, Action, and Mind are considered primary characteristics (Also called HAM). Each attribute has two secondary attributes. The first attribute under your primary attribute is similar to armor. For example, a high Quickness will reduce the damage you take. The next attribute is your healing rate. Stamina will allow your health to heal (also called recharge) faster. Although the higher number is the best, no one really knows what each secondary statistic specifically reduces/recharges. For example, 600 quckness is 200 points better than 400 quickness, but 600 quickness does not reduce damage by 200 points. If you plan on being in combat, I recommend balancing you attributes. If you only plan on being an entertainer, focus all your attribute points into the secondary statistics for mind and action, and the rest split between mind and action. If you have to choose mind or action, choose mind. You can do so much by being a medic/docto/combat medic. A medic can heal damge, doctors can raise your physical attributes (Like Action, Quickness, and Stamina) from hundreds to thousands of points and Combat Medics can heal Mind Damage.

Once you find a cantina to begin entertaining in, you will notice some of the players have AFK above their names. AFK means Away From Keyboard. These players are gaining xp while not actually playing the game. Many of the best abilities of the Musician and Dancer can only be gained by being a Master of that profession. This can take a week to get to this level. Many play this way so it takes a week rather than months. This is accomplished with a macro.

Under your action menu (control A), you will find a tab labeled Macro. Within that screen, there will be sub-menus. One is labeled New Macro. You will have to name the Macro and give it an icon to represent it. Which icon you chose does not matter. I usually write the Macro name to be something it does like DanceAllNight, or PlayContinueously.

Once you know what each part means, it becomes much easier to write new macros. Let's begin with /. / means to begin an action. The list of actions is in your action menu. Any action has a / then description that will appear in the lower half of the menu. So to begin to dance, you must type /dance. Some actions are continueous, but most are not. Example, /dance is a continueous action, but /flourish is not. If I do not put a / in front of the action, the character will speak that instead.

To end an action, I must type ;. This is only important in a macro. A new action cannot begin without the last action ending. So if I type /dance;/flourish/pause 5;, my macro would dance, skip flourish and then go to pause. If I typed /dance;flourish;pause 5; my character would begin dancing, say flourish, then pause for 5 seconds.

Flourishes gain xp for your character in the approprite skill. A entertainer will get multiple flourish options. /flourish 1 is different than /flourish 2. To know what each flourish does, you will have to perform the flourish. During a flourish, the dancer will slowly flourish again and again until he stops. Think of this as tappering off his performance. When this occurs, the xp is reduced. If I perform a flourish again, I get the maximum xp and the cycle of flourish starts at the beginning. Example, /dance;/flourish 1;/pause 5;/flourish 2;/pause 5.

Whenever you do not put the /pause comand in, the action is performed immediately. After the pause command, you must put a space between the number of seconds you wish to pause. /pause1 will not pause at all, and /pause 3600 means to pause an hour. If you do not put a few second pause between flourishes, you will not gain any experience. You have to flourish for a few seconds for the server to register your action and give you xp. Example, /dance;/flourish;/pause 5;/flourish;/pause 5 will give you xp for two flourishes. /dance;/flourish;/flourish;/flourish;/flourish; will earn you xp for one flourish, that last one, but drain your action pool for four flourishes.

So far, your dance macro should look like this, /dance;/flourish 1;/pause 5;/flourish 2;/pause 5;.

Now the complex part begins. If you want this command to run as long long as you are logged on Star Wars Galaxies, you need to make your macro push your buttons for you. That is done with the command /ui action toolbarSlot;. At the top center of your screen is your toolbar. You may add or remove any icon in your toolbar. To remove, just right click your cursor over the icon and then delete from the menu.To get full control over your cursor, hit the alt key. To add an action icon, go to the action screen, click and hold the cursor over the icon. Drag it up to the empty toolbar slot then release. Each slot has a number associated to it. /ui action toolbarSlot 00; means you hit the first button to your left. To use this command, toolbar must be lower case, the S in Slot must be uppercase, toolbar and Slot have to be next to each other like this toolbarSlot, and the number must be two digits. /ui action toolbarSlot 01 is the second slot. /ui action toolbarSlot 1 does not exist.

So my command of /dance;/flourish 1;/pause 5;/flourish 2;/pause 5;/ui action toolbarSlot 00; means that my character wil begin dancing, perform a flourish, I pause 5 seconds, I perform a second flourish and then I start this again, and again, and again.

Some characters add funny or attention getting phrases so more people watch them perform. Remember, this can also annoy people. Watch what you say.

/dance;/flourish 1;/pause 5;Please tip your entertainers./flourish 2;/pause 5;I hope you enjoy the show./ui action toolbarSlot 00;

or /dance;/flourish 1;/pause 5;You get more than static with a lap dance from a wookie./flourish 2;/pause 5;Why am I naked? No tips./ui action toolbarSlot 00;

Remember that you speak when there isn't a / at the beginning and a ; at the ending of the phrase or command.

You get more xp when you are in a group. /join will allow you to join a group. You can even write this into your macro.

/dance;/flourish 1;/pause 5;You can't get fur like this from a department store./flourish 2;/pause 5;Just like a wookie hug, it is better in groups. Please invite me into yours./join;/ui action toolbarSlot 00;

As a musician/dancer you may perform mind buffs. A buff temporarily increases mental attributes. You may use 3 different macros. The first macro is a Buff Macro that can be put in Slot F4 (toolbarSlot03). The second is a heal only macro that can be put in F7 (toolbarSlot06). The third macro is a flourish macro that can be run in the F6 slot (toolbarSlot05). You can modify these macros as necessary depending on the toolbarSlot you desire to use, the song you desire to play, and the automatic messages you wish to convey to the client(s). You can also change the pause times to adjust the rest periods to your particular action stats. The Flourish macro is can be running contineously. Depending on if you are buffing or just healing I would run either the Buff or Heal macro. Here are the ones donated by Pegla.

The last part is making a living as an entertainer. There are three methods in which entertainers gain wealth; tips, missions, and selling services.

Tips are sell explanitory. A person can give you a tip by typing /tip 100 for a cash tip of 100 credits, or /tip 100 bank for a bank tip version. There is a 5% fee for tipping from the bank. This is why most people carry cash around.

Entertainer Missions usually require you to perform in a specific location. Take the mission, follow the blue arrow that appears to a bright blue column of light. Perform the action that is stated in the mission. You may review the mission by pressing Control D (for your datapad), and you missions will be in there. Hold the radial menu to examine your mission so you may discover what you are supposed to do. Usually you must play/dance for a certain amount of time.

Lastly, perform services. You may /yell I am musician/dancer buffing in cantina for 1000 credits. Anyone interested will pay you for the service and you MUST perform the service for them. Cheating customers is bad for buisness. The money you gain today will the last bit of wealth you will receive. Don't ever cheat someone on this game. You have been warned.

Most entertainers perform buffs and healing for free. You should be aware of this perform you attempt to charge for your services. Enjoy your new profession.
