Do you want to be able to "Cut and Paste" from outside the game and get it to your /notepad? Or how about your /notepad to a word processor out of game? Or how about from your notepad into your chat window?
It is definitely handy to be able to "Cut and Paste" from outside the game and get it to your /notepad in SWG. Also how about from your in game /notepad to a word processor out of game? Or even from your notepad into your chat window?
Or if you were wondering how to make those cool colors for multi line signs for houses or tents. You'll definitely need to set up and use the cut and paste features that the game has.
It is surprising that this key combo isn't in the default configuration of the key bindings.
Here's how to do it:
1. Under the chat tab (see #2), there are three commands that you will want to re-bind:
Chat Edit Copy
Chat Edit Cut
Chat Edit Paste
2. Assign your Copy, Cut and Paste commands:
A handy set of keys to use is:
Make sure that you Click "Ok" and then click "Apply" before exiting that configuration screen.
Now then if you want to make a multi lined sign for your house, you can use Alt Tab, and open up windows Note pad:
Start | All programs | accessories | notepad
Then write the lines of text you want, {enter} works to start a new line.
(I think that the max is 3 lines for names of buildings etc., and that they
can't be too long,)
Then select the text that you prepared in notepad,
Copy it to your clip board (usually cntrl + c)
Alt + Tab back into SWG.
Then Paste it into where ever it was that you wanted to in the game using the key combo's that you set up previously.
Advance Guide:
to add color to your chat, try adding the following characters to the front of your text:
\#ffff00Then what ever text you want to show up in color.
If you were to type the below commands into notpad, (being sure to press enter
after every line,)
Then copy it from windows notepad and paste it into the 'name' dialog box in
SWG,
\#ffff00Rhuidean Quick Shoppe
\#ffffffContact the Militia for access
\#ffffffto place vendor
then you would get colors.
Here are some web pages that have the diffrent color codes that you can use.
